This is a special two day tour for cruise ships visiting Thailand through the port of Klong Toey or Laem Chabang.

Day One:

When you disembark from the ship, your air conditioned van will be waiting to take straight through to Kanchanaburi where your guide will join you. From there it’s only a short trip up to the Tiger Temple.

Lunch will be provided, either before or after the Tiger Temple visit, depending on how quickly you were able to clear Thai immigration.

The Tiger Temple, known in Thai as Wat Pha Luang Ta Bua Yannasampanno, is a forest temple founded in 1994 which has become a sanctuary for numerous wild animals.  The monastery is situated in an area lying adjacent to Burma. Protected areas and national parks along the Thai-Burma border are believed to contain the largest surviving populations of tigers in Thailand.

The abbot, Phra Acharn Phusit, has been caring for abandoned tigers since 1999. The mother of the first cub he took in had been killed by poachers. The first tiger cub died from its injuries, but a few weeks later two more tiger cubs were rescued from poachers and brought to the temple. Word soon spread and more abandoned or injured tigers were brought to the temple. By 2005 there were 17 tigers at the temple. Seven were orphans rescued from the wild and ten have been born and bred here at the temple.

Provided you arrive early enough, you’ll be able to enjoy mingling with the tiger cubs while they are being fed. There will also be some adult tigers here and this makes an excellent photo op at no extra charge.

Later, you’ll be able to go down to the Tiger Canyon where all the adult tigers are enjoying their daily exercise and here you can have your photo taken – on your camera – with the tiger resting on you lap, although this will cost you an extra 1000 baht payable directly to the Temple.

After the Tiger Temple you’ll have the opportunity to take an elephant ride through the jungle – extra 300 baht each -and then hopefully see families of rogue monkeys before leaving for Bangkok.

You can expect to arrive at the hotel of your choice around 6:30 pm. The evening is free for you to explore Bangkok by night. Although the hotel cost is NOT included in this tour price, we are able to recommend hotels which are in convenient locations for your night’s activities.

Day Two:

After a hearty breakfast your van will pick you up from your hotel and take you to the Grand Palace, which is the most spectacular place in Bangkok, so if you only see one thing whilst in the city, this is the place to see.

Thai people respectfully refer to it as Phra Borommaharatchawang. It served as the official residence of the King of Thailand from the 18th century to the mid-20th century.

The palace complex,  construction of which began in 1782 during the reign of King Rama I, sits on the east bank of the Chao Phraya River and is surrounded by a defensive wall 1,900 metres in length, which encloses an area of 218,400 square metres. Within its walls, in times past,  were the Thai war ministry, state departments, and even the mint. Today, these are all located elsewhere but the Grand Palace remains the spiritual heart of the Thai Kingdom.

Within the palace complex are several impressive buildings including Wat Phra Kaeo or the Temple of the Emerald Buddha, which contains the revered Emerald Buddha that dates back to the 14th century.

Thai Kings stopped living in the palace around the turn of the twentieth century, but the palace complex is still used to mark all kinds of other ceremonial and auspicious happenings.

Important Note: A strict dress code applies. The Grand Palace with The Temple of the Emerald Buddha is Thailand's most sacred site. Visitors must be properly dressed before being allowed entry to the temple. Men must wear long pants and shirts with sleeves. No tank tops or singlets. Women must be similarly modestly dressed. No see-through clothes or bare shoulders. No shorts. Proper shoes must be worn. No flip flops.

Lunch will be provided alongside the Chao Phraya River and then, if your ship is docked in Laem Chabang,  the driver will be ready to take you back to the ship. If your ship is docked at Klong Toey you’ll have time to visit the Reclining Buddha at Wat Pho. This temple is also home to the School of Traditional Thai Massage.

Then it’s back to your ship. Time to reflect on a great days outing for you and your group with Bangkok Day Tours.

Tour includes all admission charges, lunch, transport and tour guide.

Hotel Accommodation and Elephants Rides are not included.

Feel free to tip the driver and guide as you see fit.
